Why this book

  • Every practical on the PCI ER-2020 list: compound microscope, blood collection, microscopy of tissues, study of the human skeleton, blood tests and physiological recordings.
  • Blood studies made clear: blood group, ESR, haemoglobin, bleeding & clotting time, and WBC / RBC / differential counts.
  • Hands-on physiology: recording blood pressure in various postures, body temperature, pulse/heart rate, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, peak flow and BMI — before and after exertion.
  • Ready lab-record format: procedures a first-year student can follow at the bench and reproduce in the practical file, plus study of systems using charts, models and specimens.
  • Pairs with the theory book: designed to be used alongside “Human Anatomy & Physiology (Theory)” — the complete package for the paper at ₹110.

About this book

This is the practical companion every D.Pharma First Year student needs alongside the Human Anatomy & Physiology theory textbook. Written strictly as per the PCI Education Regulation 2020 practical syllabus (ER20-14P), it walks through every experiment on the official list in the order students perform them in the laboratory.

Students learn the use of the compound microscope and the general techniques for collecting blood, carry out the microscopic examination of epithelial, cardiac, smooth, skeletal, connective and nervous tissue from prepared slides, and study the human skeleton (axial and appendicular). The manual then covers the core physiology practicals: determination of blood group, ESR, haemoglobin content, bleeding and clotting time; WBC, RBC and differential counts; recording of blood pressure in various postures and arms before and after exertion; recording of body temperature (mercury, digital and IR), pulse/heart rate, respiratory rate and pulse oxygen; use of the peak flow meter; and measurement of height, weight and BMI. It closes with the study of the body’s various systems and organs using charts, models and specimens.

Each procedure is written clearly enough to follow at the bench and to reproduce in the practical record, making lab sessions and internal examinations far easier to prepare for. Use it together with the HAP theory textbook for complete coverage of the paper.

Authored by Dr. Narendra Silawat (Professor of Pharmacology) and published by Shree Sai Prakashan, Meerut — suitable for D.Pharma First Year students at every PCI-approved institute across India.
